Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd is a gritty tale that embodies subjects like vengeance, class disparity, and dehumanization. The creative team for this production shared a collective vision to present this London as a churning, grinding factory that consumes its citizens like fodder.

The focus of this design was enhancement. Using well-timed sound effects, vocal effects, amplification of the band, and locational placement of sound, I sought to elevate everything that was already being brought to life by the other creative teams. Sound effects were gnarly, voices and music seem to surround you and creep up behind you, and vocal clarity lets you fully enjoy the show without missing a word. These were my driving goals throughout this process.
